CBN Departments

Corporate Services
The following departments are under this directorate:
  1. Human Resources Department
  2. Information Technology Department
  3. Procurement and Support Services Department.

This directorate provides support services to the main core departments of the Bank, furnishing them with human capital and material supplies as well as Information technology infrastructures to meet the demands of the 21st century work requirements.

Departments under this directorate are:-


  1. Procurement & Support
    Procurement and Support Services Department emerged following the merger of the former General Services and Administrative Services Departments. The new Department has three principal mandates:

    • To proactively reduce Bank's cost of operations through prudent expense management and budget compliance
    • To manage the Bank's procurement (goods and services) and storage processes ensuring customer satisfaction in terms of cost, quality, and timeliness of delivered products
    • To effectively mitigate risks through management of relationships with providers of all outsourced / contracted services (infrastructural, support or logistics).

    The core functions of the Department are as follows:

    • To provide efficient and effective support services through proper administration and co-ordination of all infrastructures provided as well as management of attendant relationships with requisite service providers.
    • To provide an efficient and effective Centralized Procurement System for the Bank.
    • To ensure proper inventory management for the Bank through regular storage of procured stock items as well as general monitoring of inventory levels at all bank locations.
    • To effectively handle invoice processing for service providers, cost control as well as vendor relationship management for the Bank.


  2. Human Resources
    The functions of Human Resources Department (HRD) of the Central Bank of Nigeria are more holistic and strategic in outlook. The vision and mission for the department signify its strategic intent.

    HRD Key Objectives:
    The Human Resources Department (HRD) has some of its key objectives as:

    • Improve the overall appeal of CBN as a career option for top quality graduates, thereby achieving the top 10 (ten) percentage in ranking in terms of career option by the top 5% of graduating students in relevant fields.
    • Ensure optimum workforce productivity.
    • Implement strategic Human Resources services such as performance-based reward system, succession planning and skill - based learning.
    • Create a Learning Organization, encouraging constant improvement; continuously facilitate the update and development of the corporate culture, attitude, and skill knowledge of the employees in order to achieve the Banks defined objectives.

    HRD Service Delivery Model:
    The HRD Service Delivery Model leverages self -service technologies and a more efficient and effective Customer Service Function. This reduces the burden of transactional and administrative activities freeing up time for more strategic work.
     


  3. Information Technology
    The Computer Services of the Central Bank of Nigeria was renamed Information Technology Department (ITD) as a result of the Re-engineering project of the Bank. The core mandate of the Department is:

    • Design and implement the Information Communication Technology (ICT) strategy for the Bank
    • Manage ICT systems and support services
    • Formulate, implement and enforce ICT policies
    • Build ICT capacity for the Bank
