JOB ROLE: ASSISTANT NETWORK ANALYST (ANA)

Job Code: ANA

Grade alignment: Asst. Mgr.- Snr. Supervisor

• Assists the Network Analyst/Communication Analyst to install network components to meet application needs of CBN.
• Monitors the data/Voice communication network to ensure that the network is available to all system users and assists in resolving data/voice communication problems.
• Provides assistance to help-desk support staff/Operations Management for solving technical problems related to network infrastructure
• Assists in monitoring of systems performance and ensuring adequate time and thorough output to users
• Maintains operational service on the LAN and WAN which include:
  - Monitoring the Network links and ensuring that they are functioning correctly
• Maintains operational service in IT environment by:
  -Performing housekeeping functions
  -Monitoring IT equipment (Communications, Network, etc)
  -Monitoring of maintenance of Communications, Network equipment
  Responds to ad – hoc user requests on service related issues
• Installs and configures active Network/Communications devices
  

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES REQUIRED

Core Skills

• Adequate knowledge of networking – LAN and WAN
• Adequate knowledge of Satellite communication and Terrestrial communication technology
• Adequate knowledge of communications protocols and standards
• Adequate knowledge of interoperability amongst various network components
• Knowledge of cabling scheme
• Working Knowledge of and experience in major operating systems such as MS Windows 2000/2003, Unix Solaris, Linux etc
• Adequate knowledge of telephone systems such as PABX for voice services
• Adequate knowledge of architecture environments

• Good written and oral communication ability
• Action planning, Motivating, Analytical mind and strong problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work independently in a highly dynamic environment with minimum supervision

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS As in 1(C) above.

• First degree or HND in Computer Science and computer related disciplines (computer engineering, Computer Economics, Computer with Mathematics/Economics, MIS & Electrical/ Electronics. Post Graduate Degree in management is an added advantage.
• CISCO or Novell or MSCE Certification is an added advantage.
